BAMS is the maintenance and construction arm of Sterling’s Missoula companies, alongside SterlingCRE Advisors and Sterling Commercial Management Group (SterlingCMG). We keep buildings running and remodel them when the work calls for it. We hold a high bar, we pay for skill, and we give our team real time to live. We’re hiring a skilled tradesperson who wants both the work and a growth path.

The Role

You’ll move between two kinds of work through the week. The focus of this role is on the commercial remodel / tenant improvement work — framing, drywall, doors, paint, trim, flooring. Other times, you’ll service occupied buildings: work orders, unit turns, filter changes, fixture repairs, and the steady list of fixes that keep tenants and owners well served.

We expect clean, finished work. You take pride in both, and you own the quality of what you touch.

What You’ll Do

  • Run remodel work with the crew: framing, hanging and finishing drywall, installing trim and doors, and painting
  • Complete maintenance work orders: minor plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs, fixture and filter changes, and general upkeep
  • Turn vacant units: patch, paint, repair, and ready them for the next tenant
  • Diagnose the problem and choose the right fix, or flag it when a job calls for a licensed trade
  • Keep your tools, vehicle, and job sites clean and organized
  • Communicate clearly with property managers and tenants, and show up when you say you will

What We’re Looking For

  • Real, hands-on experience across carpentry, drywall, painting, and trim
  • General handyman range: you can change a fixture, swap a filter, fix a running toilet, install appliances, and handle the everyday repairs occupied buildings need
  • A high standard for your own work — you finish clean and you finish on time
  • Reliability and consistency — you keep your schedule and your word
  • A valid Montana driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Professionalism working in tenants’ businesses and homes
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work on your feet through a full day

Nice to Have

  • Certifications such as OSHA 10 or 30, EPA 608, or lead-safe RRP
  • Plumbing or electrical skills beyond fixture-level work
  • Prior property maintenance or remodel experience
  • Your own hand tools

Growth at BAMS

BAMS is a young company inside an established platform, and it’s growing. The people who join now will run the crews later. We back that with a growth path:

  • A title track from Technician to Lead Technician to Foreman as our project work grows
  • A $2,500 yearly skills growth allowance for certifications and training: OSHA, EPA 608, lead-safe RRP, and apprenticeship hours toward journeyman trades — your pay climbs as you earn them
  • Room to grow into running projects: estimating, scheduling, and managing the job

You move up here by what you produce and the skills you earn.

What We Offer

  • Base salary of $60,000
  • 30 days of paid time off a year — a single flexible bank for vacation, illness, family, or recovery
  • PacificSource Bronze health coverage
  • A $2,500 annual skills growth allowance for certifications and training
  • Performance-based incentives tied to quality and output
  • Health savings account, referral program, and tuition reimbursement

We pay well and hold a high bar. That’s how Sterling works, and BAMS runs the same way.
